Pasta Tomateno!!....

Heyy everyone...I remembered to get back to my kitchen blog only when my friend asked me if my blog had become inactive...oops....Work and personal life kept me so busy these days....I had experimented quite a few things in past few months and you know what?...this time i have heard recipes from a person who is going to be one of the most important ppl in my life who herself is great cook and narrates her recepies in way which can make others too that way...so sweet of her.....:)


Here you go...Pasta tomateno!!


You need::
Barilla Penne Pasta (based on how many ppl you want to serve)
3 tomatoes.
1 capcicum
5 tbspn pasta sauce
5 tbspn of tomato ketchup
Salt to taste.
chilli powder.
2 tbs oil..




Cook the pasta in boiling water until soft. In a sauce pan heat 2tbsp oil and fry the tomatoes only a little ,now add pasta sauce along with salt to cook the tomatoes in the sauce.Cook for about ten mins until the tomatoes are totally cooked,,,,Now add the cooked pasta to gravy and mix well in a low flame,Add 5 tbsp of tomato ketchup and chilli powder to it and stir well. On a hot pan, fry capsicum until it turns crisp.Add the fried capsicum to the pasta  and serve hot!!

Brinjal rice (Vangi bath)

Herez one recipe which is made out of the universally hated vegetable "Bringal" / "Baingan"...As a kid I always hated Brinjal like most of you,realised of late that it can be tasty if made well....So you all remove this preconceived notion in your minds that brinjal is yeek...:)...Well..This recipe ..my mom had learnt it from her colleague and passed it on to me...
I am gonna make this for someone special for breakfast to office..Hope its liked....incidentally "baingan is not liked by him too"..all the best to me..

So here you go!!
Ingredients::
Brinjal(3 Nos)
Chana Dal (2tbps)
Urad Dal(2tbps)
Cinnamon (DalChini)(1-2 nos)
Cloves(1-2)
Red Chillis (As per taste)
Cooked Rice(3-4 cups)
Mustard (1-2 teaspoon)
Zeera(1-2 teaspoon)
Asafoedita(Hing)
Turmeric powder.
Tamarind paste.
Cashews.
Curry leaves.
Salt to taste.


Firstly roast chana dal,Urad Dal,Red chilli cloves and cinnamon on a pan and grind it into a powder.On a heated pan, add 2 tbsp of oil, add chana dal, urad dal, mustard, jeera and a pinch of asafoedita and fry till brown.Now add brinjal and fry again.Add salt and turmeric powder and let it cook for about 5-10 mins.Now add the powder thats made above and add 1 tbs of tamarind paste  and a pinch of jaggery.
To the gravy made add 4 cups of cooked rice and mix well.Add fried cashew or groundnuts and curry leaves for garnishing.Serve hot!

Nutritious Noodles/Chowmin

Well...Who says Health and Taste cant go together?..Here s one recipe thats tasty, yet healthy...I learnt this recipe from nigella lawson`s show on TV.I used to sit late night to watch her shows and grab all her cooking sutras!
Read on !!

You need:
Noodles  (Hakka Noodles/Wheat noodles).
Capsicum(1 medium sized)
Spring Onions(1stock)
Onions(1-2)
Tomatoes(2-3)
Beans( 10-12 nos)
Ginger Garlic paste.
Tomato ketchup(According to taste)
Soya Sauce(1-2 Tbs)
Lemon Salt/AginoMotto(1pinch)
Chilli powder.
Salt to taste.


Boil noodles and drain the water,Chop the vegetables and half cook them to give it that lisping taste of chinese food.It should take approx 10 mins for these vegeatbles to cook..On a heated pan,add 2 tbs of oil,add little of ginger garlic paste and fry these vegetables,now add tomato ketchup,soya sauce,salt,chilli powder and fry these vegetables for close to 10 mins.Now add the boiled noodles to this gravy and mix well.To this almost made dish add a pinch of agino motto and mix well.Add sauce for extra taste.
Serve hot with Sauce.
